An important part of our cultural treasure consists of people who lived in these lands and left their marks: Mausolos, Artemisia, Dionysos, Dragut (known as Turgut Reis). One of them not only left a mark on history, but also became the father and the definer of the world 'History'. Herodotus of Halicarnassus, our fellow countryman. We are proud to have such a fellow countryman!

Herodotus was born in Halicarnassus and lived here until his age of 30. His work, which had been presented to the public, shed a light on the whole world. We declared the dates between October the 31st and November 6th of 2022 as "Our Fellow Countryman Herodotus Week" in order to explain these forgotten facts to our people, especially to our children and younger generation. With an urge to make Bodrum globally known as ‘the birth place of Herodotus, the father of history’, we are carrying out a series of events for Bodrum to adopt his historical, figurative value of Herodotus and for raising awareness on his fellowship.  

I would like to thank our residents, who are being sensitive on embracing our figure of value, our Herodotus, our father.
